Split-Hem Black Hemlock Tee

What's that?! Moooore fabric from Blackbird?  Ha!  I ordered this gorgeous black sweater knit at the same time as the french terry and ohmygoodness I want it in every colour!  It's the Cloud Sweater Knit in black, and as the description states, the supplier calls it "cashmere".  It's not... but hot damn it is a close second, and you really can't beat that price (I'm not a shill for this shop... I just love it so, and want everyone to know how great it is!)  This gorgeous cozy fabric was perfect for my first Hemlock Tee.

Lake-Blue Linden Sweatshirt

I wish I could drape myself in this fabric forever.  The feel, the colour, the stretch, it's just the BEST. So I figured it should be made into a comfy-cozy Grainline Linden Sweatshirt that will likely get worn year round.  The weight of the fabric is perfect for cool summer evenings, and for winter days. The other day I even layered it with a patterned collared shirt along with jeans for work.  It was seriously the most comfortable, yet still stylish and (casual) office appropriate.

Stripey Hudson Pants

I'm back!  After a bit of a posting & sewing hiatus...

It took us a little while to really get settled in the new house, and I haven't really been sewing that much until recently, no have I had the time (or light!) to take photos of the things I've made over the last couple months.  Most of the things I haven't blogged about I actually made well before we moved... and then my "Year of Sewing" project ended and I needed a serious break from keeping up with the blog and instagram.

So I'm finally back - it's a long weekend here in Ontario and after getting a bunch of chores done yesterday and this morning I can finally plop down and hammer out a few blog posts.  First - another pair of Hudson Pants!  I love this pattern so, so, so much and I don't think I'll ever tire of it.  It is super easy and quick to sew up, and can be used with a variety of knits.  I might actually try to sew up a woven version this summer.

Anyways!  I bought this fantastic navy & teal stripped knit from imagine gnats, and paired it with some navy cotton jersey I had leftover from a pair of Hudson Pants I made for Matt last winter. When I spotted the fabric in the imagine gnats shop, I KNEW it had to become some Hudson Pants.  I actually bought 3 yards of the fabric, since I figured it might make a good Linden sweater or a heavier weight tee or tank.

Grey Herringbone Elmira Wrap Cardigan

Well hey there!  I'm finally back to it with some sewing!  I actually have 4 or 5 other makes that I've been to lazy to blog about, and will hopefully get those posted once we're all moved in to the new house.

I made this Elmira Wrap Cardigan (from Seamwork) a couple months ago, mostly to go with my Cat-Lady Emery Dress and other sleeveless dresses so I could wear them in the colder months.  I used a grey herringbone knit I bought from imagine gnats (amazing shop - you should check it out!)

Mermaid Sophie Swimsuit

Capping off what turned out to be a bit of a swimsuit week here on the blog with my Mermaid suit!  I had about a metre of this fabric leftover from my Mermaid Leggings, and I knew it needed to be turned into a swimsuit this summer.  Thank goodness for the Sophie Swimsuit pattern!

Oatmeal Linden Sweatshirt

Ohh you guys, I don't know why I waited so long to try out this pattern.  Well, a good (and not stupid expensive) french terry is hard to come by!  I found this beautiful oatmeal-coloured light french terry from Blackbird Fabrics earlier in the spring, and bought it specifically for this top.

Orange Dotted Moneta

Ahh!  I'm finally getting around to posting my most recent makes.  The weather outside is GORGEOUS so I took a whole bunch of photos of various items out on our balcony.  Soo... that's why all the photos in my next few posts will be eerily similar!  So - you've seen it a bunch in my Me-Made-May posts already, but here is my Orange Dotted Moneta Dress!

Geometric Print Aires Leggings

Another pair of Aires Leggings!  These ones are wayy more comfortable than the mermaid-scale print ones I made a little while ago.  I ordered some fabric from Imagine Gnats during her leap-day sale since I wanted a more practical pair to wear working out and at derby practice.  This pair is a definite success!

Purple Aztec Hudson Pants

I can't believe I forgot to post about these!  I made them a couple months ago, and if I could get away with it I would wear them every. single. day.  As you already know, I am in love with the Hudson Pants pattern.  I was looking for some lightweight knit fabric to make a more spring/ summer/ hot apartment appropriate comfy pants, and found the perfect purple aztec-print bamboo rayon.

Hudson Pants - Valentines Day Edition

If you couldn't tell from my instagram feed, I am seriously loving the Hudson Pants pattern from True Bias Patterns.

A while ago I purchased some red heart-print knit fabric with the intention of making a shirt.  Welp, I fell in love with the Hudson Pants and decided that the fabric would make some great comfy-pants for around the house... and just in time for Valentines Day!

Comfy Cozy Hudson Pants

Last weekend I whipped up a pair of True Bias Patterns' Hudson Pants.  I had seen these pants all over the sewing blogosphere, and have only heard great things!  Appropriate sweat-pants fabric is kinda hard to come by (and crazy expensive!) here in Ottawa for some reason, so I waited until there was a sale at Fabricland.  I managed to get 2m of thick sweatshirt knit for $33!  Woo!  I'll be able to get two pairs out of the cut.

Knit Skirt: Hollyburn/ Mabel Mash-Up

Once again, another clothing item that is like wearing secret pajamas!  This was a super simple combination of the Sewaholic Hollyburn Skirt (sans pockets) with the waistband coming from the Colette Mabel Miniskirt pattern.

Colette Moneta - 3/4 Sleeve in Burgandy

Secret pajamas I tell you, this dress is like wearing secret pajamas to work!  The Colette Moneta Dress is a fantastic pattern, and it is super easy & quick to stitch up!  This is actually my third Moneta (I'll share the other two eventually) but the first one I've made using my serger.  I actually made this dress in early October and it's a regular in my work wardrobe, I just haven't gotten around to taking pictures of it until now.

Carolyn Pajamas - Shorts With Some Serious Cattitude

These shorts are totally the cat's pajamas!  From Closet Case Files, the Carolyn Pajama Pattern is perfect for sewing up a classic matching pj set.  I'm not really in need of a new matching set (nor do I have the perfect fabric for one yet), but I did have some of this adorable knit called 'Cattitude' by Lizzie House.
Seriously adorable.  My husband definitely thinks I'm turning into a crazy cat lady... ah well!

Colette Mabel Knit Pencil Skirt

Ugh, you guys.  Every fall I trick myself into thinking that pencil skirts are flattering on me.  Every fall I realize that they really are not.

Maybe I'm just wearing them wrong?  Maybe I actually need to wear heels with them and not some shabby flats?  Who knows.  Anyways, I sewed up a couple of the Colette Mabel pencil skirts, and they'll probably just hang in my closet for a bit.

More Lark Tee's!

Ah!  Finally getting back to posting about the clothes I've made recently.  I've been busy trying to get some pieces done so I could stop wearing jeans to work everyday (whoops!) so I haven't had a ton of time to get out to take photos when it's light out, and to write about the things I've made.

Anyways, I received some fabric I ordered from Hawthorn Threads last week, and managed to whip up two new Lark Tees from Grainline Studios.  I started with the boat-neck 3/4 sleeve version (you can see that one here), so I figured I would make two long-sleeve versions.  One with a crew neck, and one scoop-neck.  I've never sewn anything with a neck-band before, so I was a bit nervous getting started.  Once I got going though and made sure everything was pinned properly, sewing on the neckband was easy!  I am really loving my new serger for sewing with knits, I was able to whip up these shirts in about an hour each.
